Tempe, AZ – Jose Gonzales Killed in 4-Car Crash at 48th St & Southern Ave
Tempe, AZ (February 5, 2020) – A crash involving multiple vehicles left one man dead in Tempe on Wednesday afternoon.
According to Sgt. Mercedes Fortune from the Phoenix Police Department, the crash happened around 4:30 p.m. near 48th Street and Southern Avenue. Fortune said a car was making a left turn from a business when it collided with another car heading eastbound on Southern Avenue. The impact from that crash caused one of those cars to hit two additional vehicles that were traveling westbound on Southern Avenue.
A man in one of those cars, later identified as 20-year-old Jose Gonzales, was taken to a hospital with critical injuries but was later pronounced dead. Fortune said that all other injuries sustained in the crash are serious but not life-threatening.
The accident remains under investigation at this time.
