Florence, AZ – Deadly Head-On Crash Reported on SR 79 Near Arizona Farms
Florence, AZ (July 10, 2020) – A deadly crash involving multiple vehicles shut down Highway 79 in both directions on Friday afternoon.
Per reports from officials with the Arizona Department of Public Safety, three vehicles were involved in a head-on accident at milepost 143 on SR 79, resulting in at least one death and several injuries. Additional information was not immediately available.
DPS officials said the crash involved a semi-truck hauling hay, which forced the shutdown of the highway in both directions. The crash also caused a fast-moving brush fire, as the hay from the semi-truck caught fire after the accident, which may have started the brush fire.
The accident remains under investigation.
