Goodyear, AZ – Two Injured in Truck Accident on I-10 at Estrella Pkwy
Goodyear, AZ (August 16, 2020) – Two people were transported to the hospital via ambulance after a vehicle crash and fire shut down Interstate 10 near Estrella Parkway on Friday afternoon.
According to officials dispatched to the scene, the front left tire failed on a commercial truck-tractor that was pulling a loaded vehicle hauler trailer, causing the driver to lose control. The commercial truck then struck a concrete barrier wall and a sedan.
Two vehicles from the vehicle hauler trailer were then ejected into traffic in the opposite direction of the highway. At that time, a fire broke out on the truck, which then spread to the vehicles it was holding and the passenger car involved in the accident.
The two individuals transported to the hospital sustained serious but non-life-threatening, according to officials with the Goodyear Fire Department.
DPS troopers say no criminal charges are pending and impairment is not suspected to be the cause of the collision, though the investigation into the accident is ongoing.
