Phoenix, AZ – Crash Involving Box Truck Closes HOV Lane on L-101
Phoenix, AZ (September 8, 2019) – An accident that involved one pickup truck and a commercial box truck closed the HOV lane of Loop 101 on Sunday afternoon.
Authorities said that the pickup truck, a silver Toyota, collided with the box truck on Loop 101, also known as the Pima Freeway, around 3:30 p.m. Fire rescue units and emergency medical technicians were at the scene to assist the victims and take witness statements. The crash remains under investigation, but an accident report notes that the box truck appears to have clipped the bumper of the pickup truck in the left lanes of eastbound L-101, just before 64th Street.
Both drivers were able to pull to the shoulder but the HOV lane was closed for about an hour after the wreck.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
