Tucson, AZ – 2 Killed in Train Accident Near I-10 & Avra Valley Rd
Tucson, AZ (October 5, 2019) – Two people were killed on Friday morning in a train accident near Interstate 10 and Avra Valley Road.
According to officials from the Marana Police Department, the two killed were employees of a self-contracting company working for Tucson Electric Power in the area. According to Sgt. Jeff Pridgett, a police spokesman, no one aboard the Union Pacific train was injured during the collision. The incident happened around 11:05 a.m., per a report from Tim McMahan, a Union Pacific spokesman.
Marana police officers shut down the westbound frontage road of I-10 between Avra Valley and Tangerine roads to investigate the incident.
