Phoenix, AZ – Pedestrian Hit & Seriously Injured Near 51st Ave & Camelback Rd
Phoenix, AZ (November 2, 2019) – A pedestrian is in critical condition after being struck by a car in west Phoenix on Saturday evening.
According to reports from the Phoenix Police Department, the collision happened near 51st Avenue and Camelback Road around 4:20 p.m. Police say that the 30-year-old man was crossing in the crosswalk on Camelback Road when he was struck by an SUV traveling north on 51st Avenue. Phoenix paramedics arrived at the scene shortly after the crash occurred to transport the man to a local area hospital.
The driver of the vehicle remained at scene and impairment does not appear to be a factor, though the driver was operating their vehicle without a license, per information from the Phoenix Police Sgt. Mercedes Fortune. The driver will be issued a citation for driving without a license in addition to other traffic violations, said Fortune.
