Black Canyon City, AZ – UPDATE: Raymond Hicks Killed in Pedestrian Crash on I-17
Black Canyon City, AZ (November 4, 2019) – A pedestrian killed in a crash on Sunday has been identified as 61-year-old Raymond Eugene Hicks of Black Canyon City, officials said.
According to local officers, the incident occurred around 6:34 p.m. Hicks is believed to have locked himself out of his truck and started walking southbound along Interstate 17 near the Rock Springs area, just outside Black Canyon City. As he was walking, a Cadillac sedan traveling southbound on Interstate 17 struck and killed him. Hicks was pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver of the sedan was not injured.
Officials did not release the identity of the driver, though authorities found an abandoned pickup located at milepost 238 on Interstate 17 northbound belonging to the family of Hicks. The accident remains under investigation at this time.
