Phoenix, AZ (November 11, 2019) – A motorcyclist, who died after colliding into the side of another vehicle in north Phoenix on Friday, has been identified.
Bill J. Mussell, 23, was traveling west on Thunderbird Road when he struck the side of a 2017 Nissan Versa traveling in the other direction. The Nissan was attempting to make a left-handed turn into the private drive of an apartment complex and pulled in front of the motorcyclist, according to a press release from the Phoenix Police Department. The crash occurred just before 7:00 p.m. in the 2100 block of West Thunderbird Road.
The motorcyclist was transported to a nearby hospital in serious condition, where he was later pronounced dead. He was wearing a helmet while driving his 2006 Harley Davidson. A 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche driven by a 23-year-old man was also struck by the Nissan as it rotated upon impact by the motorcycle, though he was not injured.
Both drivers of the Nissan and Chevrolet were determined not to be impaired. The accident remains under investigation.
