Flagstaff, AZ – UPDATE: Everytt Begay Arrested in Injurious Wrong-Way Crash on I-40
Flagstaff, AZ (November 15, 2019) – A man was arrested on charges related to a wrong-way crash that occurred on Interstate 40 early Thursday morning in Flagstaff.
Everytt Begay, 48, from New Mexico, caused a wrong-way crash on eastbound I-40 near the Interstate 17 junction around 3:20 a.m. According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, Begay was driving his SUV westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-40 when it collided head-on with an eastbound commercial vehicle.
The driver of the commercial vehicle was injured and treated at an area hospital, and Begay was transported to a hospital for minor injuries. Begay was released from the hospital and booked into Coconino County jail on charges of aggravated DUI and endangerment after the crash.
Eastbound I-40 was closed at milepost 195 for over an hour while authorities investigated. The other driver’s current condition is not known.
