Glendale, AZ – 3 Injured in Work Fire Near 67th Ave & Olive Ave
Glendale, AZ (November 18, 2019) – Three people were seriously injured after a Salt River Project transformer caught fire near a gas pump in Glendale on Monday morning.
According to Ashley Losch with the Glendale Fire Department, the transformer caught fire near 67th Avenue and Olive Avenue. Losch said that people were working on the transformer when they ran into difficulties, though the specifics are unclear. SRP spokeswoman, Kathleen Mascareñas, said that two men, ages 60 and 39, were flown to nearby hospitals with severe burns. Another 23-year-old man was driven to the hospital via ambulance with moderate burns.
SRP says that the three workers who were injured were contractors employed by Sturgeon Electric. Sturgeon Electric declined a request for comment, but Glendale Police Sgt. John Roth said that they are helping to investigate the cause of the accident.
