Tucson, AZ – Joseph Santos-Nelson Killed in Bicycle Accident at 22nd St
Tucson, AZ (November 18, 2019) – A 22-year-old man was killed on Monday after he was struck by a vehicle head-on on Tucson’s east side.
According to officers from the Tucson Police Department, Joseph Abdiel Santos-Nelson was riding eastbound in the westbound curb lane of 22nd Street, near South Vista Overlook Drive. As he was riding, a driver in a westbound-traveling Chevrolet Silverado struck Santos-Nelson. Tucson paramedics arrived at the scene shortly after Santos-Nelson was hit, but it appears that he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A Tucson police news release determined the driver was not speeding through the area or impaired when the collision occurred, though the accident remains under investigation.
