Phoenix, AZ – Child Killed & Woman Injured in Apartment Fire at 23rd & Dunlap Aves
Phoenix, AZ (December 15, 2019) – A four-year-old girl is dead and a woman is in critical condition following an early morning Phoenix apartment fire on Sunday, Phoenix Fire Department Captain Rob McDade said.
A man and a 10-year-old girl were also transferred to the hospital via ambulance and are in stable condition. McDade said crews were dispatched around 4:30 a.m. to an apartment complex on 23rd Avenue and Dunlap Avenue.
Firefighters were able to rescue the man, the woman, and the 10-year-old girl through a second-floor window. The second fire crew located the four-year-old girl after entering the front door. McDade said that it was determined the child was dead before crews arrived on the scene. Rescue units are unsure how she got separated from the family at this time.
McDade said there is not a final determination on what started the fire but it is not believed to be suspicious at this time.
