Avondale, AZ – UPDATE: Victim in Serious Condition After Crash at 43rd Ave
Avondale, AZ (December 25, 2019) – One driver has died and another driver has life-threatening injuries after a serious multi-vehicle crash near 43rd Avenue and Buckeye Road early Monday morning.
Per reports from the Phoenix Police Department, officers arrived on the scene around 3:00 a.m. Authorities discovered that a speeding sedan failed to stop at a red light along Buckeye Road and collided with a southbound vehicle that was traveling through the 43rd Avenue intersection.
Local paramedics say that both drivers were taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. One driver has since died and the other is recovering from multiple surgeries. The driver, identified only as a marine named Mike, suffered fractures, broken ribs, two broken bones, broken legs, and punctured lungs.
It’s still unknown whether impairment was a factor in the crash, though the wreck remains under investigation.
