Mesa, AZ (January 1, 2020) – A 16-year-old girl was struck and killed in a crash in early Wednesday morning. 

According to officers from the Mesa Police Department, the accident happened near 16th Street and Broadway Road just after 3:00 a.m.

Phoenix police say 24-year-old Kelvin Allen was driving a Nissan Pathfinder northbound on 16th Street when he lost control of his vehicle. At that point, it slid off the roadway and killed the 16-year-old girl.

The other passengers in Allen’s vehicle suffered minor injuries. Allen was evaluated, and probable cause was developed that he was impaired, per a report from officers. He was booked into the Maricopa County Jail and faces charges of manslaughter, aggravated assault, and endangerment.
