Casa Grande, AZ – Injuries Reported in 3-Car Wrong-Way Accident at Peart Rd
Casa Grande, AZ (January 6, 2020) – A three-vehicle crash in Casa Grande on Monday afternoon left one person with critical injuries and left other victims with serious injuries, according to officials.
An Arizona Department of Public Safety trooper was stopped in traffic around 4:30 p.m., at the intersection of McCartney Road and Peart Road, when he saw an erratic driver pass by. DPS spokesman Bart Graves said that the driver was traveling the wrong way, westbound in the eastbound lanes, and failed to stop at a designated stop sign at the intersection.
The driver continued through the intersection, and as the trooper attempted to catch up to the driver, the driver collided with two vehicles at the intersection of McCartney Road and Trekell Road. The driver was taken to a hospital in Phoenix in critical condition, while the occupants in the other vehicles suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash occurred across from Casa Grande High School and is being investigated at this time.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families. We hope for their full recovery.
Wrong-Way Crashes in Arizona
Typically caused by impaired, distracted or otherwise negligent drivers, wrong-way crashes mean severe consequences for those involved. In fact, wrong-way collisions, more than any other type of crash, occur when drivers are under the influence. Furthermore, studies show that nearly 90 percent of these wrong-way accidents are caused by some sort of driver negligence.
Tragic, unforeseen consequences may plague victims and their families after these wrong-way wrecks. Due to the nature of these serious crashes, which are often head-on collisions, victims are much more vulnerable to serious injury or even death. But those affected can contact a Phoenix accident lawyer for help, and in some cases, seek the fair compensation they deserve from a personal injury suit or wrongful death suit.
