Black Canyon City, AZ (November 24, 2019) – Multiple injuries were reported in a wrong-way accident on Interstate 17 near Black Canyon City late Sunday night, according to the Department of Public Safety.

Per reports from the local police department, the wrong-way driver was heading southbound in the northbound lanes of I-17 when a head-on collision occurred near milepost 247. Officials say that a total of four individuals, including the wrong-way driver and three occupants of another vehicle, were transported to the hospital. DPS said that multiple patients involved in the crash have serious injuries, citing reports from Daisy Mountain Fire and Medical.

Delays were initially reported along I-17 in the area as police worked to determine the cause of the accident and cleared the wreckage.
