Black Canyon City, AZ (July 30, 2019) – On Sunday night, police claim that a woman was taken to jail after causing a wrong-way collision on Interstate 17 in Black Canyon City.

The woman has since been identified as 70-year-old Sharon Weaver, who had been traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of the highway around 8:56 p.m. in her Dodge Ram.

The woman collided head-on with a Toyota RAV4 near the Sunset Point Rest Area.

The man in the Toyota suffered injuries but is expected to be okay. Weaver was immediately arrested after police discovered that she had been driving impaired. She was also injured but is expected to recover.

The investigation into the accident continues at this time.
