Casa Grande, AZ – 2 Children Struck & Injured Near Arizola Rd
Casa Grande, AZ (October 30, 2019) – Two young girls were struck and injured by a car while waiting for the school bus on Tuesday morning.
According to officials from the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred near Arizola Road and Jimmie Kerr Boulevard around 7:00 a.m. After entering the roadway, they were struck by a small sedan.
The sedan was driven by a 19-year-old woman.
Both victims, 6-year-old and 7-year-old siblings, were airlifted to Phoenix Children’s Hospital for immediate treatment. The 6-year-old girl is in critical condition, while the 7-year-old remains in stable condition at this time. Officials say the driver remained at the scene to cooperate with authorities. They say impairment is not a factor in the accident, though they are still investigating.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
Injurious Pedestrian Accidents in Phoenix
According to a recent report from the Governors Highway Safety Association, one pedestrian is killed every two hours in the United States as a result of collisions. Arizona is at the top of the list of deadliest states for pedestrians, with a 35 percent increase in pedestrian fatalities in the past 10 years alone.
Even when using crosswalks, pedestrians are vulnerable to serious injuries or death as a result of these accidents. Pedestrians who are struck by vehicles are often left with exorbitant medical costs, long-term physical issues, and emotional trauma. However, the victims and families affected by these accidents can seek legal aid from a skilled personal injury lawyer. In some cases, a lawyer can help victims seek compensation from a personal injury lawsuit, or help families get justice from a wrongful death suit.
