Chandler, AZ (February 28, 2020) – Chandler police say distracted driving was a contributing factor in a deadly crash that occurred Thursday afternoon.

Officers from the Chandler Police Department say that 47-year-old motorcyclist Mark Johnston of Chandler was killed in the accident. Johnston was traveling northbound on South Lindsey Road around 1:45 p.m. when a large pickup truck failed to yield from a stop sign at the intersection of East Doral Drive. The truck entered the intersection and collided with Johnston, who was taken to a hospital via ambulance. He later died from his injuries, police said.

The unidentified driver of the truck, a 45-year-old Chandler resident, did not suffer any injuries in the accident. The investigation is ongoing and no charges or citations have been issued at this time.
