Chandler, AZ (September 4, 2019) – According to police, a 68-year-old woman who was struck crossing the street last month died on Wednesday.

Per information from police officials in Chandler, the incident happened on August 16, around 6:15 a.m., near the intersection of Arizona Avenue and Ray Road.

The victim, who was in a wheelchair, was crossing Ray Road northbound when she was hit by a dark-colored Dodge Caravan, which was traveling westbound on Ray Road. At that time, the victim was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

The driver who struck the woman fleed the scene. Witnesses say that the driver fled south on Iowa Street into a neighborhood.

Witnesses also described the driver as a Hispanic male in his late 30s. Onlookers say he had a mustache and was wearing a dark hat. Any person with information is urged to contact the authorities.
