Gilbert, AZ – UPDATE: Jorge Medina Charged in 5-Car Injury Wreck at Higley Rd
Gilbert, AZ (September 23, 2019) – According to officers from the Gilbert Police Department, a Queen Creek man has been charged after a five-vehicle accident that involved 15 people.
Jorge Medina, 29, is facing charges of DUI and 13 counts of endangerment. A Gilbert police spokesman says that Medina was transported to an area hospital via ambulance in serious but stable condition. Two more people, a woman and a 12-year-old girl, suffered minor injuries in the crash.
Police say that Medina allegedly ran a red light Sunday morning, causing a chain-reaction of collisions. A pickup truck carrying a family of five overturned, then Medina’s vehicle struck another car occupied by a family of eight. Two more vehicles were struck in the chain-reaction accident that followed.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
