Gilbert, AZ (February 8, 2021) – Officers with the Gilbert Police Department are investigating after an accident occurred late Saturday night and left one woman dead.

According to a report released by the Gilbert PD, the crash happened at 11:00 p.m. near Greenfield Road and Pecos Road. Police say that a pickup truck was traveling northbound on Greenfield Road when the driver drifted into oncoming southbound traffic, hitting a four-door sedan. The driver of the sedan, identified only as a 40-year-old woman, was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the pickup truck, a 39-year-old woman, was transported to a hospital via ambulance for minor injuries.

It is not clear what led to the crash, and no further details have been released at this time. The accident remains under investigation.
