Glendale, AZ – Karen Render Killed & Pregnant Woman Injured in Crash at Grand Ave
Glendale, AZ (November 19, 2019) – A deadly crash in Glendale sent a pregnant woman to the hospital and left another woman dead on early Tuesday morning.
Per reports from the Glendale Police Department, the two-vehicle crash happened near U.S. 60/Grand Avenue and Missouri Avenue around 6:30 a.m. Detectives who investigated the crash said impairment was not a factor but are still collecting evidence. Authorities said that a pregnant 28-year-old woman was driving a minivan when she hit a full-size tire mounted on a rim that was in the roadway. She then lost control of her minivan and crossed the median into oncoming traffic, where she crashed into a car.
The woman in the other car, who died at the scene, has been identified as 52-year-old Karen Render of Surprise. The 28-year-old woman, who was 35 weeks pregnant, was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries and later delivered her baby. It’s not clear if the crash caused the early birth.
Grand Avenue was shut down for several hours during the morning commute, with southbound traffic closed at Bethany Home Road and northbound traffic closed at Camelback Road.
We would like to offer our condolences to the family of Karen Render at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victims in hopes of a full recovery.
