Glendale, AZ (July 21, 2020) – Further details have been released after a fatal bike accident that caused the deaths of a father and his 13-year-old daughter on July 12 in Glendale.

Per reports from officers with the Glendale Police Department, Robert Martin Strickbine, 61, was giving his daughter a ride home on a bicycle when they were struck by a vehicle. On the night of the collision, Robert Strickbine had biked to pick up his daughter from a friend’s house. With his daughter on the bicycle, they traveled home, riding southbound on 52nd Avenue. At that time, a woman driving a Dodge Dart westbound on Thunderbird Road struck the father and daughter, per statements made in a press release by Sgt. Randy Stewart, a Glendale Police Department spokesman.

The two were thrown from their bicycle and died of their injuries at the scene of the accident.

The women behind the wheel of the Dodge Dart stayed at the scene during the police investigation but was later taken to a hospital for medical reasons.

Police said on Tuesday that they were still investigating the incident and waiting on toxicology and medical analysis reports before filing any charges against the driver, according to a statement from Officer Tiffany Ngalula, a Glendale police spokeswoman.

Ngalula said the process may take months before the lab receives the results, though the investigation is open and ongoing at this time.

Our deepest condolences go out to the family of Robert Martin Strickbine and his daughter.
