Goodyear, AZ – Serious Injuries Reported in Plane Crash Near Goodyear Airport
Goodyear, AZ (December 21, 2019) – Authorities are investigating a plane crash that occurred near Phoenix Goodyear Airport on Saturday night.
Officers from the Goodyear Police Department said that a Phoenix police helicopter located a Cessna on its roof about a mile south of the airport, located near Estrella Parkway and Vineyard Avenue. Initial reports indicate that the plane struck a power line as it went down. Officers believe the pilot may be deceased but have not released details about the other passengers or about the pilot’s identity.
There are reports of high voltage lines down in the area, though ground crews are trying to gain access to the plane.
The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the cause of the accident.
