Littlefield, AZ – Auto Accident Scatters Debris Across I-15

Littlefield, AZ (July 7, 2019) – An auto accident on Saturday evening, July 6th, caused debris to scatter across I-15.

The incident involving two tractor-trailers injured one driver and tore both trailers open, sending a mass of corn chips in all directions. The accident happened shortly before 6:00 p.m. at mile marker 10 and contributed to a traffic jam that stretched for more than eight miles, according to officials.

Authorities say the driver of a Freightliner tractor-trailer was heading north at about 65 mph when the driver failed to observe that traffic had stopped in both lanes. The driver hit the brakes and attempted to steer and avoid crashing, but his tractor-trailer struck the rear right corner of another tractor-trailer.

The impact of the crash dumped several cases of chips across the roadway.

The driver of the Freightliner was issued a citation for failing to avoid the collision. The drivers’ information and conditions have not been released.

Our thoughts go out to all involved for a fast recovery.
