Littlefield, AZ – Update: Information Released for Truck Accident on I-15
Littlefield, AZ (August 13, 2019) – The details involving a truck accident on I-15 in Littlefield have been released. The accident caused injuries in a family of four, according to authorities.
Police claim that the accident took place on Tuesday, around 2:30 p.m., in the area of a construction zone. The driver of a 2019 GMC that had been rented slowly approached traffic that had been backed up due to construction in the area. The vehicle did not notice that the other vehicles were stopped in traffic and swerved around them, slamming into the rear-end of a truck.
The driver had been going approximately 60 mph at the time of the accident. The four passengers inside the SUV suffered from severe injuries, while the driver of the truck did not have injuries.
Police claim that the parties were visiting the area but did not speak English, which made it difficult for responders to communicate with them. The mother had been sitting in the passenger’s seat and was trapped in the vehicle when it was struck under the tractor-trailer. They had to extricate her by cutting off the car doors and roof. She, along with her teenage son, suffered the most serious injuries and were flown to the hospital.
The father who had been driving and his teenage daughter received less critical injuries and were taken to the hospital by ambulance. The parties were conscious at the time but in a lot of pain with serious injuries.
The investigation into the accident is ongoing at this time.
Our sincerest thoughts are offered to the parties recovering from their injuries.
