Maricopa, AZ (February 24, 2020) – A wrong-way crash left one person dead late Sunday night on State Route 347 near Maricopa.

Per a report released by the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the wrong-way driver was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of SR 347 near Casa Blanca Road when he crashed head-on into another vehicle just after 11:30 p.m. DPS said the wrong-way driver was taken to a local hospital via ambulance for serious injuries. The other driver was also taken to a hospital, but they were later pronounced dead.

DPS detectives believe impairment was a factor in this crash, though officers are still investigating the incident at this time.
