Mesa, AZ – Multi-Vehicle Crash Blocks L-202 at SR 24

Mesa, AZ (September 1, 2019) – A multi-vehicle accident blocked several lanes of Loop 202 near State Route 24 on Sunday afternoon.

According to officials, the wreck involved at least three vehicles, which collided in the right lanes of L-202 westbound, also known as the Santan Freeway, at State Route 24 around 5:15 p.m.

Police and fire rescue units were on-site, assisting injured victims.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

All lanes reopened by 7:00 p.m., though traffic remained slow in the area for several hours.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.

Multi-Vehicle Wrecks in Arizona

More than half of the total accidents that occurred last year involved more than two cars and multiple injured victims across the state. And data released by the Arizona Department of Transportation showed that these total car accidents numbered more than 55,000, with more than 25,000 injuries in 2018 alone.
