Mesa, AZ – Officer & Vehicle Struck by Driver Near Broadway Rd

Mesa, AZ (October 7, 2019) – An officer and his vehicle were struck by a driver in a Mesa neighborhood on Monday morning.

Authorities created a large perimeter around the Mesa neighborhood to search for the man who hit the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office deputy and his vehicle. The perimeter was set up just off of Broadway Road and 96th Street up to Crimson Road.

The officer was treated at the scene and transported to a local hospital but did not sustain serious injuries.

Officials believe that there may have been more than one person in the car that hit the deputy. Two people have been detained for questioning in the incident at this time. The Mesa Police Department and the Arizona Department of Public Safety are still investigating.

Our thoughts are extended to the injured officer in hopes of a quick recovery.
