Mesa, AZ – Officers Investigating Injury Car Wreck on L-202 Santan at Alma School Rd

Mesa, AZ (December 29, 2020) – A crash causing injuries forced a portion of Loop 202 near Alma School Road to close on Tuesday afternoon in Phoenix.

Phoenix police said an initial investigation indicated two cars traveling eastbound on the L-202 Santan Freeway collided after an incident in which a white work van apparently rear-ended an SUV. The wreck occurred near the Alma School off-ramp around 3:00 p.m. It appears at least one victim was either treated at the scene or transported to the hospital via ambulance with injuries, though further details on their condition have not been released. It was also unclear whether the other victims involved in the collision were also injured.

An investigation into the circumstances leading up to the accident continues at this time.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families. We hope for a full recovery.
