Mesa, AZ – Toddler in Critical Condition After Drowning at McKellips Rd
Mesa, AZ (September 24, 2020) – A child has been transported to an area medical center after drowning in a Mesa pool on Thursday afternoon.
Per reports from the Mesa Fire and Medical Department, authorities responded to a pediatric drowning call around 1:00 p.m. First responders said that the residence was located near Stapley Drive and McKellips Road.
When officials arrived on the scene, they found a child under the age of two in cardiac arrest. The child was initially discovered unresponsive in a backyard pool. Police officers didn’t say whether the child’s family owned the pool, and they have not released further details about the incident. Local EMTs transported the child to the hospital in critical condition.
It’s unclear how the drowning occurred or how long the child was in the pool, but the accident remains under investigation at this time.
