Payson, AZ – Fatal Motorcycle Accident on Highway 87
Payson, AZ (July 16, 2019) – Police reported that a fatal motorcycle accident took place on Highway 87 this past weekend just three miles into Payson.
Police claim that the rider of the motorcycle, identified as Robert Frank Welch, was riding a motorcycle with his girlfriend headed northbound on their Harley Davidson when a Chevy suddenly pulled out in front of them.
At the time, police claim that Welch and his girlfriend were on their way to a fundraiser. The SUV T-boned him and he was not able to do anything to prevent the accident.
The man’s girlfriend flew off of the bike and went through one of the windows of the SUV, falling inside the vehicle. She was seriously injured and airlifted to the hospital where she remains in the ICU at this time.
Welch was tragically killed at the scene of the accident.
At this time, police continue their investigation into the accident.
