Peoria, AZ (February 8, 2021) – A 22-year-old woman has died after a car crash occurred in Peoria on Sunday evening.

Per reports from the Peoria Police Department, the accident happened near Peoria Avenue and 89th Avenue around 9:00 p.m. Initial information released by officers stated that the crash involved two SUVs, one orange and one gray. During their investigation, police found that the driver in the orange SUV was traveling eastbound on Peoria Avenue, near 89th Avenue, when the gray SUV traveling westbound drove left of the center median and crashed head-on with the orange vehicle.

The driver of the orange car, identified as 22-year-old Nicole Classen, sustained serious injuries from the crash and was pronounced dead once she arrived at an area medical center.

The driver of the gray car was transported to the hospital via ambulance with life-threatening injuries. It’s unclear if any other victims sustained injuries in the crash. Officers with the Peoria Police Department are continuing to investigate the crash and believe that impairment may be a factor.
