Phoenix, AZ – Injury Reported in 2-Car Collision on I-17

Phoenix, AZ (September 9, 2019) – Both sides of Interstate 17 were affected by a multi-vehicle accident resulting in injuries on Monday afternoon.

According to the officials at the Phoenix Police Department, at least two vehicles collided in the HOV lanes of both northbound and southbound I-17, also known as the Black Canyon Freeway. It’s unclear how the two wrecks are connected, but Phoenix authorities say that part of the accident occurred when a black SUV rear-ended a white Toyota Tacoma, causing a possible chain-reaction crash just before Northern Avenue around 3:30 p.m.

Both vehicles involved in the wreck sustained damage, and at least one of the drivers suffered injuries, per a report from Phoenix fire rescue units at the scene.

At this time, the victims’ identifying information has not been released, but the investigation of the accident is ongoing.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.

Injury Wrecks in Phoenix

There are countless accidents on Arizona’s roads every day, ranging from minor fender-benders to fatal crashes. And while the majority of accidents fall into the former category, even seemingly insignificant wrecks can sometimes lead to serious consequences.

According to the Arizona Department of Transporation, nearly 37,000 injury collisions occurred last year alone. These wrecks can result in high medical costs, long-term health issues, and property damage for victims. Victims and their families are especially vulnerable when they’re involved in wrecks that occur due to the negligence of other drivers. But those affected can seek legal aid from a skilled personal injury lawyer.
