Phoenix, AZ (November 27, 2019) – A man has been charged in a hit-and-run accident that left a 55-year-old woman dead on Wednesday night.

According to officers with the Phoenix Police Department, the incident happened around 7:00 p.m. near 83rd Avenue and Indian School Road. Police say that 32-year-old Anthony Cancilliere was driving westbound on Indian School Road when he struck the 55-year-old woman who was crossing Indian School Road mid-block near 81st Avenue.

Cancilliere allegedly slowed down then drove away from the crash but was later located by officers near 99th Avenue and Indian School Road. Police evaluated him for signs of impairment, and it was determined he was impaired by drugs. Cancilliere was booked into the 4th Avenue Jail for failure to stay at the accident scene and DUI involving drugs.
