Phoenix, AZ – Fatal Pedestrian Accident on 52nd St


Phoenix, AZ (September 26, 2019) – Around 8 a.m. on Tuesday morning, Phoenix Police responded to a fatal pedestrian accident on 52nd Street that claimed one life.

The deceased was identified as 69-year-old Thomas Lewis. He was struck by an SUV at 14600 52nd St. when he was walking with a woman on the sidewalk.

Lewis and the 69-year-old female he had been walking with were hit when a 71-year-old driver lost control of her SUV and left the roadway. The vehicle struck both pedestrians.

Lewis was taken to the hospital and pronounced deceased while there. The woman struck by the SUV was taken to the hospital as well and suffered minor injuries. She is recovering at this time.

The driver of the SUV remained at the scene. Police continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to the collision.
