Phoenix, AZ – Injuries Reported in Crash & Chemical Spill on I-10 at 67th Ave

Phoenix, AZ (January 10, 2020) – Three right lanes on westbound Interstate 10 were closed and at least one serious injury was reported after a collision involving multiple vehicles, including a commercial vehicle, on Friday at 67th Avenue.

According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred just before 7:00 a.m. The commercial vehicle ruptured a gas tank and was leaking fuel as a result of the collision, said Jonathan Montes, a DPS spokesman.

Montes said it was unknown whether there were any life-threatening injuries, but Phoenix paramedics were at the scene to treat victims. The crash was caused by a tire left on the freeway. Several vehicles struck the tire, causing them to crash.

Hazardous materials teams cleaned up the fuel spill, and officers are still investigating the crash at this time.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
