Phoenix, AZ (April 29, 2020) – A pedestrian who died after being hit by a vehicle on Tuesday afternoon has been identified as 69-year-old Jose Israel Franco Lopez, per reports from officials with the Phoenix Police Department.

According to officers at the scene, the vehicle involved was attempting to make a turn onto McDowell Road from a private street near 43rd Avenue when it struck Lopez. Sgt. Ann Justus, a Phoenix Police Department spokeswoman, said that Lopez was taken to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. No arrests or citations have been issued at this time, but the accident remains under investigation.
