Phoenix, AZ – Man Killed & Two Injured in Crash at 30th St & Acoma Dr

Phoenix, AZ (July 15, 2020) – A man has died after a serious multi-car accident that occurred in a north Phoenix neighborhood on Tuesday afternoon.

According to authorities with the Phoenix Police Department, officers and local rescue authorities responded to the crash around 2:00 p.m. The crash scene was reportedly located at 30th Street and Acoma Drive in northern Phoenix.

After the initial investigation at the scene, police determined that a Mitsubishi Eclipse, operated by 22-year-old Jesus Vazquez, was traveling at a high rate of speed and crashed into a motor home in the area of 30th and Acoma. Phoenix fire first responded to the scene shortly after the crash occurred but found that Vazquez was already deceased. A 22-year-old passenger who was traveling in his vehicle, however, was transported to the hospital via ambulance after sustaining serious injuries.

The driver of the motor home also sustained minor injuries and was treated at a local hospital. Officers say that she was evaluated for impairment but no signs of impairment were noted.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, though a toxicology report is pending to determine if Vazquez was impaired at the time of the crash.

Our condolences go out to the family of Jesus Vazquez at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victims in hopes of a full recovery.
