Phoenix, AZ – Man Struck & Killed by 2 Cars on Loop 202 at 40th St
Phoenix, AZ (November 28, 2019) – A man has died after being struck by at least two vehicles while walking in the emergency lane of the eastbound Loop 202 in Phoenix late Wednesday night.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, officials received reports of a man walking in the left emergency lane of Loop 202 near 40th Street around 11:00 p.m. Troopers were informed soon after that the man was hit by multiple vehicles and by the time troopers arrived at the scene, he was dead.
The eastbound lanes of the Loop 202 were closed until 2:00 a.m. at the mini-stack interchange, blocking access from Interstate 10 and State Route 51, according to DPS officials. Police are still investigating the crash and have not released details about the victim or the vehicles involved. Police further commented that this is the third fatal pedestrian accident in this area in the last few weeks.
