Phoenix police said a bicyclist was struck by a car in the area of 15th Avenue and Southern Avenue around 5:30 p.m.

Our condolences go out to the family of Mario Hernandez at this time.
Fatal Hit-and-Run Accidents in Arizona
Several of the nearly 30,000 collisions that took place last year in Arizona were hit-and-run accidents. And these incidents are often caused by distracted or impaired drivers, who leave the scene to avoid legal consequences. This leaves victims and their families especially vulnerable in the aftermath of an injurious or fatal accident.
Those who sustain injuries in these collisions through no fault of their own may be left with high costs from medical bills and vehicle damage. Oftentimes, victims may succumb to the injuries they sustained in a hit-and-run accident, leaving their families to pick up the pieces.
