Phoenix, AZ – Motorcyclist Injured in Wrong-Way Crash on SR 51 at Bethany Home Rd
Phoenix, AZ (November 2, 2020) – A wrong-way driver was taken into custody late Sunday night after a serious accident occurred on the northbound side of State Route 51 at Bethany Home Road in Phoenix.
Per reports from the Phoenix Police Department and the Arizona Department of Public Safety, authorities received calls of a wrong-way vehicle traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of State Route 51 just after 10:00 p.m. A few minutes after they received the initial call, DPS was alerted to a collision involving the wrong-way vehicle and a motorcycle near Glendale Avenue.
DPS officers say that the motorcyclist was transported to the hospital via ambulance with life-threatening injuries and the wrong-way driver was not injured. The wrong-way driver of the was taken into custody and impairment is suspected as a cause of the accident.
DPS later identified the driver as 26-year-old Louis Dominquez, who was booked into Maricopa County Jail and charged with three counts of endangerment and aggravated assault.
No other details were released, but officers are still investigating the accident at this time. No word on the victim’s current condition has been given.
