Phoenix, AZ – Multi-Vehicle Crash Causes Injuries on I-17 Near Stack
Phoenix, AZ (October 3, 2020) – Officers from the Phoenix Police Department are investigating a serious multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 17 that occurred on Saturday afternoon.
The accident occurred around 1:30 p.m. on I-17 northbound near Van Buren and the Stack, though it’s not clear how it initially occurred. Phoenix EMTs were at the scene of the accident to treat victims and transport at least one victim to an area hospital.
It appears two vehicles were involved in the crash, including a dump truck, which occurred in the left lanes of the highway at the Van Buren Street exit, but the victims’ current conditions and identities have not been released. News footage from the scene showed two cars pulled onto the shoulder of the highway in addition to the dump truck, both with front-end and back-end damage.
Parademics were at the scene and working alongside officers to assist the victims of the crash. The accident remains under investigation at this time.
We would like to extend our thoughts to the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
Multi-Vehicle Accidents in Arizona
Over the last several years, Arizona had one of the highest rates of multi-vehicle crashes in the nation, according to the Governor’s Highway Safety Association. In 2016 alone, Arizona had one of the highest fatality rates following multi-car crashes, going onto record several hundred deaths by the end of the year.
By the end of each calendar year for the past decade, almost 1,000 fatalities have been seen statewide as a result of these serious car accidents. It’s clear that when it comes to these crashes, victims and their families are paying a steep price as a result of other drivers’ negligence.
Whether it’s painful long-term injuries and trauma or even emotional distress and financial insecurity that may last for years to come, wrecks result in tragic consequences for both victims and their families. Occasionally, fatal accidents leave victims’ grieving families to pick up the pieces in the aftermath. Thankfully, those affected can seek help from a Phoenix personal injury lawyer, especially if they’ve been involved in an accident that occurred as a result of the negligent actions of another driver.
