Phoenix, AZ – One Killed & Three Seriously Injured in Car Crash at 63rd Ave & Van Buren St
Phoenix, AZ (December 6, 2020) – An 18-year-old has died and three other victims were rushed to the hospital after a serious crash occurred in west Phoenix on Saturday night.
Per reports from the Phoenix Fire Department, the crash occurred when two vehicles, a Ford Mustang and a Chevy Cruze, collided at 63rd Avenue and Van Buren Street. The crash happened around 7:15 p.m. when the driver of the Mustang collided head-on with the Chevy Cruze. Phoenix Police Sergeant Ann Justus says that investigators believe that speed may be a factor in the crash but they do not believe that impairment was involved. Justus added that there is no indication that the crash is related to street racing.
Fire officials say that a 20-year-old man was transported to an area hospital in extremely critical condition. Another 21-year-old man and a 20-year-old man were taken to the hospital via ambulance with serious injuries. The fourth man and the driver of the Mustang, later identified by police as 18-year-old Jorge Alvarez, died at the scene. It’s unclear if the injured victims were traveling in the Cruze or the Mustang.
No further details have been released at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
