Phoenix, AZ – Pedestrian in Critical Condition After Crash at 51st Ave & Camelback Rd
Phoenix, AZ (November 3, 2019) – A man is in critical condition after being hit by a car in west Phoenix on Saturday evening.
According to officers from the Phoenix Police Department, the collision happened near 51st Avenue and Camelback Road around 4:20 p.m. Authorities say that the 30-year-old pedestrian was walking in the crosswalk on Camelback Road when he was struck by an SUV traveling northbound on 51st Avenue. Phoenix paramedics arrived on the scene shortly after the incident occurred and transported the man to the hospital via ambulance, where he remains in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the vehicle remained at scene and impairment does not appear to be a factor, per a report from Phoenix Police Sgt. Mercedes Fortune. However, the driver was issued a citation for several traffic violations, and the crash remains under investigation at this time.
