Phoenix, AZ – Three Hospitalized After Three-Car Crash at 16th Ave & Van Buren St
Phoenix, AZ (November 17, 2020) – Two people were transported to the hospital in serious condition after an accident involving a stolen vehicle occurred on Tuesday morning in Phoenix.
Per reports from the Phoenix Police Department, the crash happened around 5:00 a.m. near 16th Avenue and Van Buren Street. Police say that the crash involved two cars and a bus.
Phoenix Police Sergeant Ann Justus says that one of the cars involved in the crash was a stolen vehicle with two people inside. An officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop for the vehicle, but the car didn’t stop. The officer stopped following the vehicle, and shortly thereafter, the car didn’t stop for a red light. When the driver of the stolen vehicle ran the red light, they hit another car and a city bus.
Phoenix fire said three people were transported to an area medical center. A 35-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman, who were both in the stolen car, are in serious condition at the hospital. A 40-year-old man who was in the other vehicle was transported to the hospital as well. No one on the bus was transported.
An investigation into the circumstances leading up to the accident continues at this time.
