Phoenix, AZ (December 26, 2020) – Two people have died and a third person is hospitalized with serious injuries after an accident occurred at a Phoenix intersection late Saturday morning.

Per reports from the Phoenix Police Department, the crash happened at 31st Avenue and Indian School Road around 11:30 a.m. Officers say that a Chrysler 300 driven by a 23-year-old man was heading westbound on Indian School Road when it collided with a Toyota Scion trying to turn left onto 31st Avenue. The Chrysler 300 was speeding at the time of the accident, police said.

Photos from the scene showed two badly-damaged cars. According to a statement released by Capt. Scott Douglas of the Phoenix Fire Department, one of the passengers had to be pulled from their vehicle.

The 27-year-old driver of the Toyota Scion, as well as their 18-year-old passenger, were both taken to the hospital in extremely critical condition. They have since died from their injuries. The driver of the Chrysler 300 at an area medical center with serious injuries.

The investigation is ongoing, and charges are pending.
