Phoenix, AZ – Woman in Critical Condition After Wreck on I-17 at Bethany Home Rd

Phoenix, AZ (June 16, 2020) – A woman is in extremely critical condition after an early morning crash on Tuesday in Phoenix.

According to officers with the Phoenix Police Department, the wreck happened shortly after 2:00 a.m. on the I-17 southbound off-ramp at Bethany Home Road. According to the Department of Public Safety, a young driver lost control of their car, hit a wall, and then went up onto the sidewalk at the ramp, hitting a woman.

The driver continued on for a bit but stopped shortly after the accident occurred. Police said that the four kids who were in the vehicle, including the driver, tried to flee the scene; however, they were all detained by officers.

The ramp at Bethany Home Road was closed for several hours while detectives conducted the on-scene portion of their investigation. The accident remains under investigation at this time, and none of the names of those involved has been released.
