Sacaton, AZ – Man Killed in Fatal Truck Crash on SR-87


Sacaton, AZ (September 10, 2019) – Around 2:13 p.m. on Thursday, police responded to the scene of a fatal truck crash that took place on State Route 87.

The accident, according to police, took place when a 58-year-old man from Casa Grande was in a van and collided with a semi-truck. He was later identified as John Fillion.

The accident took place on SR-87 at the intersection of State Route 187. A van entered into the intersection, where it was suddenly struck by a semi-truck traveling south in the other direction.

Fillion was identified as the driver of the van. He was tragically pronounced dead at the scene by a coroner.

The driver of the semi did not sustain injuries.

The intersection was closed down for approximately two hours, according to reports by the Arizona Department of Transportation. However, the highway reopened around 4:40 p.m.

The investigation into the accident continues at this time.
